我的ebay帳戶是許久之前臺灣ebay還沒倒時註冊的。後來臺灣ebay倒了之後，我的ebay帳戶就改設在香港ebay底下。來到美國之後也沒想過要改，但用了一陣子之後發現某些問題還蠻煩人的～
*幣別混亂：美國ebay費用以美金為單位，帳單卻為台幣，若用美國信用卡支付，又要再轉換匯率一次，十分麻煩！
*語言錯亂：登入帳戶後My ebay的預設語言為中文，此時搜尋美國ebay後的項目敘述也會是以中文顯示，中間穿插賣家寫的英文說明，感覺很錯亂。若有人回覆訊息，寄到我的信箱中的通知信會出現部分亂碼。
為了解決上面問題，需要做兩件事（以下為ebay客服寄給我的email內容）：
A. 更改幣別（Changing Billing Currency）
1. Click the "site map" link located at the top of most eBay pages.
2. Click the "Change Your Billing Currency" link located near the bottom of the middle column under the "My Selling Account" heading. You may need to sign in.
3. Select your preferred currency from the drop-down menu, and then click the "Continue" button.
4. Select an automatic payment method based on the choices available for the new currency.
5. To confirm the change, click the "Submit" button.
***Note***
Some currencies require credit card verification before processing the switch. You may be asked to provide a credit card if you choose one of these currencies.

B. 更改註冊地（change your registration site）
Before you change your registration site to eBay US, you must prove that you live in the United States. Therefore, you should modify your registration address (especially country) firstly, via the link listed below:

The only way to avoid being directed to eBay HK site is to use a US address temporarily. For example:

4) Cancel your Sales Reports subscription.

之前在信用分數與信用記錄這篇提過，有聽過朋友說某些州可以每年免費申請一份信用記錄，但我自己沒有嘗試過。前幾天又看到這個訊息，就決定親身體驗去申請一下這份免費的credit report。

You can get a free report from each of the three national credit reporting companies every 12 months. 原來這是聯邦法律賦予的權力啊～所以並不是特定州的居民才可以申請，應該是每個人都可以申請。

自從一月美國聯邦儲備局宣布降息之後，CD利息就像溜滑梯一樣一路下滑。第一次宣布降息時，對於Chevy Chase Bank的4.4%CD還不屑一顧，想要再找找更好的利率。沒想到第二次宣布降息之後，別說4%了，大部分銀行都降到3.6%左右。
正當我垂頭喪氣，懊悔當初沒有將錢存進Chevy Chase Bank的時候，赫然發現Countrywide Bank還有5%(註1)的定存。在網上search了一下，發現Countrywide主要是做貸款的，而且目前有財務危機，可能是因為缺乏資金，所以才有這麼好的利率。雖然新聞說Bank of America將會併購Countrywide(註2)，但是好像也尚未定論。把錢放在一家快要倒閉的銀行，似乎有點太不保險？
記得我之前提過有FDIC insured的銀行，FDIC保障每個人$100,000的額度嗎？雖然知道有這麼一回事，但是從沒想過如果有一天真的遇到了會是什麼狀況，因此決定來好好研究一下。

剛剛熊熊在fatwallet上面看到一個討論串，有一個人所有的BOA戶頭都被凍結，我覺得很好奇就讀了幾篇post。裡面提及這個人可能利用上一篇提到類似卡神的方式，將大筆現金轉來轉去以賺取利潤差，所以被視為是詐欺的行為，而被凍結戶頭。我沒有整個讀完，也不確定自己的理解是不是百分百正確，不過我想為了避免誤導大家，我已經把上一篇文章有可能有問題的內容刪除。
其實我原文中就有提到，我覺得這樣的行為的正當性和合法性會有問題。為了不要讓哪個不怕死的傢伙因為讀了我的文章後，真的那麼去做而誤觸法網，所以還是將所有有可能有問題的部分刪掉比較保險。不過我想光是調整信用卡額度應該是沒什麼問題的，就是不要走一些旁門左道想要賺利息差就好。
其實我自己也沒有打算申請那一張卡，並不是因為那張卡不好，只是對於我現有的卡已經很滿意了。而且如果不是真的有大筆消費，其實cash back的金額也不會太高。不過如果你是MBA的學生要繳學費，或是最近正要買車，我想申請這張卡應該是很不錯的！
原作者說，他發現帳戶被凍結的時候，打電話或是親自去BOA時，得到的答覆大部分是：「我們不能跟你討論這個問題。」「我們有可能不會將你的錢還給你。」我想要是留學生遇到這樣的問題，應該會嚇到發抖吧！畢生積蓄毀於一旦的感覺，大概不是一般人承受得起的。

對於今年夏天來到美國的人來說，現在是可以開始嘗試申請信用卡的時機。不過我要再三強調，有時候申請信用卡的結果跟用風吹出來沒兩樣，同樣條件的兩個人去申請同一張卡，結果可能是完全不同。僅提供我的一點小小經驗談作為參考。我的第一張信用卡是拿到SSN之後三個月時，在當地小銀行申請的學生卡。或許是因為在這家銀行裡面有定存(註1)，又或許是因為是學生卡所以比較好申請，雖然額度只有少少的$800大洋，但是總算是擁有我人生中的第一張美國信用卡了。 綜合網路上大家的經驗談，對於申請第一張信用卡的人的建議是：1. 在開戶銀行申請2. 申請有年費的卡，過的機率比較高3. American Express的發卡機率很高，學生可以嘗試American Express Blue for Student
